Dorset Barn Wedding Photographer

Charlie’s older brother is an old school friend of mine, so when he asked me if I would photograph his wedding, I jumped at the chance. Not only because their whole family are super lovely people, but also because their whole family know how to let loose at a party. And I wasn’t to be disappointed.

Charlie and Aimee actually met through his older brother, and they are a brilliant match for one another. Charlie is a bit of a nutcase, and Aimee obviously has a certain (but probably less) degree of nutcase in her too.

Their wedding took place in Dorset, in the church nearby Aimee’s childhood home, where here parents still live, whilst the party took place at a nearby farm in a barn that was purpose built to host the wedding party of its owner’s daughter!

I started the day with Aimee, her mum, dad and bridesmaids at their house, where the prosecco was already in full flow. I left them to it for a short while to go and meet Charlie and his groomsmen in the village pub for a swift one. Before that one could turn into two, I went back to find Aimee in her dress, looking beautiful. A few quick portraits later, she, her parents and bridesmaids started the walk to the church. I ran ahead, trying my best to catch the nervous excitement whilst also making sure Charlie’s swift drink hadn’t turned into several and he wasn’t still in the pub. His responsible groomsmen had made sure that he had left and was at the church on time.

Charlie, it’s fair to say, was a bit emotional when he saw his bride walking up the aisle. I love it when my couples let their emotions show like that, because the pictures can really transport them back to how they felt at that precise moment.

Following the ceremony and a looooong confetti tunnel exit, Aimee and Charlie departed on the back of a tractor. Not your standard wedding car, but it was very them.

Arriving at the barn for the reception, it had turned into a gorgeous late summer afternoon. There were outdoor games like skittles, golf putting, and throwing balls at old crockery (who knew that was a game?!). The party got started following Charlie’s speech. Aimee’s response to his speech? Play ‘We Like To Party’ by The Vengaboys. Clearly this music meant something to the happy couple and their guests, because the room absolutely went off. Everyone’s hands in the air, jumping up and down, Charlie and Aimee on chairs, almost conducting an orchestra of wild dancing! It was electric. Moments like that remind me why I absolutely love my job.

I was really happy to sit with their guests at a table so I could enjoy the party to the full and get amongst it. The food was seriously good – kudos to Hungry Mule catering. Following on from some more speeches, the band, Mr Mcintosh took the night away, and the party went up a notch. I’ll let the photos do the talking.

Big love to Aimee and Charlie. Congrats to you both, wishing you a long happy life together.
