I’ve been lucky enough to visit Italy quite a few times in my life, and it’s a country I love. The landscapes, the food, the style, it’s all so cool. So I was really thrilled when I was invited to travel to Italy again to photograph a stunning destination wedding in a truly beautiful setting in Tuscany.
Pete and Mimi live together in New York, but with Pete being from London, they wanted to have their wedding somewhere on neutral territory. They chose the absolutely beautiful Conti di San Bonifacio as their venue, a boutique hotel on a Tuscan hilltop. It’s hard to describe how lovely this place is. A winding, tree-lined gravel road leads you up the hill to the hotel, from which the views of the countryside are breathtaking.
There was a BBQ for everyone the night before the wedding, and then the main event started in the late afternoon of the following day. The Italian sun shone all day allowing for a gorgeous outdoor ceremony, followed by a poolside reception, dinner and dancing.
Pete and Mimi’s friends and family were all so warm, they’re clearly a well loved couple! There were some great gags in the speeches, a wedding cake like no other I’d seen (millefeuille made live by chefs in front of everyone), and the party was one to remember, with music provided by Fortune Band from London.
The night finished with a last dance for the Pete and Mimi surrounded by their friends and family waving sparklers. Well, that was supposed to be the end, but then some guests got hold of the microphone, ending with Pete giving everyone a great rendition of a classic Lionel Richie tune.
Massive congratulations to Pete and Mimi. Wishing you both a long and happy life together, thank you for trusting me to capture your destination wedding.
Here are some of my favourite shots 🙂
