The weather leading up to this Jewish wedding was wet. Very wet. But as if it was meant to be, the sun came out and stayed out for the whole day to allow Rafi and Sophie to have a stunning outdoor chuppah. South Farm looked gorgeous in the sunshine, colourful and bright with spring flowers all over the place provided by Wildwood Floral Events.

Some very young little piglets were running around their pen whilst the wedding guests arrived. Everyone had a wander around the grounds before settling down in the garden for a lovely, warm (in more ways than one) ceremony conducted by Rafi’s father, conveniently a rabbi, and Zoe Jacobs, the cantor. Traditionally the bride will walk around the groom seven times, but in this case Sophie walked around Rafi three times, Rafi walked around Sophie three times, before they circled each other once.

Following the ceremony, the lovely weather meant wedding guests were able to enjoy some drinks and nibbles with the option of garden games – giant jenga (always good with a drink in hand) is a favourite of mine, the reactions when the tower collapses make for some fun photos.

The party began with a couple of rounds of Israeli dancing, which was intense given the number of people on the dance floor. Rafi in particular earned his dinner with a commendable non-stop effort!

Just before the final set of speeches I managed to grab the happy couple for a few minutes just before the sun dropped below the horizon, and it offered up some beautiful golden light which made taking some lovely portraits even more of a pleasure.

The best men’s speech was finished off in style with a tuneful rendition of ‘Eye of the Tiger’, before the party got into full swing, with awesome live music from the Matzoh Boys.
