Destin and Mary-Anne tied the knot as soon as possible after lockdown restrictions allowed in April.

When I met them both on a video call which I like to do with all couples before confirming a booking, I knew instantly that this would be a fun wedding. I wasn’t wrong. Destin is one of those people you meet who has such a positive, happy energy that you can’t help being in a better mood afterward. He said he found my photos online and there was one in particular that just caught his attention; a documentary photo from an Indian wedding where the bride was leaving with her new husband in the wedding car, and her mother was touching her face which was full of emotion. It’s lovely when clients find something they love in my images.

Destin and Mary-Anne already had their civil wedding but I was there for a church service and blessing at Mary-Anne’s church in Brixton, conducted by the pastor who had known her for most of her life.

Friends and family came together to celebrate their marriage and, probably because of everyone having been in lockdown so long, the mood was joyful and upbeat. The sun was out in force for the whole day too, which only helped make the day better.

Following the ceremony, we took some group photos and few couple shots in a local park before the couple’s nearest and dearest drove across south London to Blackheath, where the reception was held at the Clarendon Hotel, outside in a marquee in the pretty garden.

At such an intimate wedding with only 15 guests present, the speeches are great because they have more meaning to everyone. This was definitely the case here, with plenty of people saying a few words. There were so many laughs it was hard to keep my camera steady, particularly when Destin was on the mic (which in this case was a bouquet of flowers).

After the speeches and cake were cut, we headed out onto Blackheath itself to take some photos with the last of the gorgeous sunlight before it set. Destin and Mary-Anne had the chance to relax and take it all in whilst enjoying a beautiful sunset.

Here are some of my favourite photos from the day, in slideshow form followed by each image by image below.
