Two Worlds Meeting: Brian & Mohan

Two Worlds Meeting: Brian & Mohan

Brian and Mohan are a pair of wonderful human beings. I was so happy when they let me know they wanted me to photograph their wedding this summer.

Brian comes from the states but has lived in London for a long time, whilst Mohan hails from Malaysia but has also lived in London a long time. They met four years ago and it’s clear they were meant to be together. Their wedding brought together people from across the globe for a celebration of love. I probably say this too much but I have rarely encountered a wedding with so much love for the couple getting married. There was a tangible warmth and energy in the air all day long.

The newlyweds stayed the night before their wedding at the hotel where the party was to take place, the Andaz Hotel, which backs on to Liverpool Street Station in the heart of London City. If you’re not familiar with the hotel, it’s a funky modern hotel with a great sense of style. I was pretty excited to have the opportunity to shoot there.

I met Brian and Mohan at the hotel and we spent time before the ceremony taking some photos of just the two of them. I love it when I can do couple portraits before the ceremony like we did, because it allows more time for it and means the couple don’t have to do it later in the day, missing part of their wedding reception. Brian and Mohan looked super dapper in matching Hugo Boss suits and bespoke bow ties from FeatherGameBirdsUk.

Following their portrait session, we were picked up along with some close family and friends by a stretch hummer to take us to Old Marylebone Town Hall, where the ceremony was taking place. The ceremony featured some emotional readings which caused a few tears around the room. Like I said, this couple are well loved! After covering the happy couple in confetti, the wedding guests jumped onto a Routemaster bus to take them back to the Andaz Hotel.

Once back at the hotel, the party got going with a flashmob choir appearing from nowhere. The London House Cats really got the atmosphere going. Once the guests were sat down for dinner, more performances followed from Brian and Mohan’s talented guests. There was dancing, sing-a-longs and speeches a plenty. Not a dry eye in the house once the speeches were done. Brian and Mohan then cut the beautiful cake made by Wild Ginger Lily, and then shared their first dance as a married couple.

Then the dance floor kicked into action and it was a wild one! What. A. Party!

I had so much fun capturing Brian and Mohan’s day.

If you or someone you know is getting married soon, please do get in touch. I’d love to be part of your day too.
